Autumn Farewell meets Gratitude

Farewell to the leaves of Spring

the new ones who were just babes a few months ago

have burst into colours of red, yellow, and orange

returning to the earth – to compost – until next spring when they will come back again and if we’re lucky, we’ll be there to wish them happy birthday

where am I headed – to the beach I hope and soon

life in these times of Corona have been stifling to say the least

many like ants scatter to the woods for relief

only to mask up and hurry, missing the very essence of the peace they walked to find

the mountains where I live have become saturated along with the rivers I navigate

when discouraged, I take a look at what’s around me – a wonderful home, with a small backyard pond, lots of trees, marigolds and a safe neighborhood to walk in with a view

#grateful
